IBA has learned over the years that the Magnum caliber, PSS type rifles, should be bedded for any degree of shot group consistency. Lack of good groups and shot group consistency is primarily caused by the receiver shifting on the aluminum bedding block during recoil. While it is useful to also bed the other PSS calibers [.308] as IBA does with offering the MASTER TUNEUP package, we consider it absolutely required for the big cannon cartridges. Enjoy your new rifle, but when you want to shoot tighter groups in a predictable manner—we recommend bedding the rifle. Our Titanium Devcon bedding has proven to be the best by far. Our Chandler snipers are bedded with Titanium and some of those rifles have been in service for 10+ years. It is almost laughable that anyone would use some of the ancient epoxy products advertised by many mainstream supply companies simply because it’s available. Offering an item for sale should be an endorsement of the product but it appears that unknowledgeable sales people want to have a complete lineup EVEN if it’s inferior. Maybe they don’t want to know any better because, after all, it sells. We have much better materials to bed with today and you should look around and ask those hard questions.
